Owner/Designer - Peaceful Playgrounds

Dr. Melinda Bossenmeyer is the author of six published books on playgrounds and numerous articles and a book chapter on recess, playgrounds and play. She has presented over 50 sessions on physical education, recess, play facilitation and playgrounds. She is recognized as a playground design expert and is Nationally Certified as a Playground Inspector. She was the past chairperson for preschool and elementary education for the California Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She is the Chair Elect for the Council on Play for AAHPERD.

Dr. Bossenmeyer is a former elementary school physical education teacher and principal, and she directed Kinder/Kids Gym a movement program for 1600 preschool children in 70 preschool locations throughout Southern California.

The Peaceful Playgrounds program has been implemented in over 7000 schools across the nation and in many foreign countries. Susan Ungaro the Editor of Family Circle Magazine in her Editor's column in the April 2000 issue called A Peaceful Playground- "One that works!"
